Tsurikawa, deriving from the Japanese word for ‘strap,’ initially served as a practical train handle for commuters in Japan. However, its narrative took an unexpected turn when, beginning in the 1970s, individuals associated with Bosozoku (暴走族, Japanese biker gangs) appropriated Tsurikawa, affixing them to their bikes and vehicles as symbols of defiance and rebellion.
